Rocky Horror in LA (1999-2006) – DEVO becomes the Sinister of Defense
In the Summer of 1999 DEVO met Natasha Ponticelli and Rebecca Lester. They were members the local San Fernando Valley cast of Wild and Untamed Things (WUT), who at that time were performing at the Topanga Theater in Woodland Hills, CA. They said they needed a Frank-n-furter to give a rest to their current Frank and Cast Producer, David C. DEVO agreed to meet with David C. and thought that he would only be helping out by guest performing, but that’s not what ended up happening. I’ll try to make a long story short. DEVO joined cast as a Frank than found himself unhappy with the way the cast was run and quit in early October. At which time DEVO started his involvement with Rocky at the Rialto (please see Rocky’s Whores Bio). One month later DEVO was asked to accomplish the most unprecedented coup in LA Rocky History. In a Single day DEVO walked back into a WUT meeting a non-member and walked out the Cast Producer. This quick move to power has coined the phrase, “pulling a DEVO”. This is also the reason the nick name of “Trojan Fuckin Shark” is so well suited for DEVO.
Inspired by the creative and diverse environment of WUT he began to take the cast to a new level. Unfortunately, Pacific theaters closed the Topanga Theater in 2000 and a deal was made to move the cast to Pacific’s Northridge Theater. 10 months later Pacific Theaters cancelled their deal with WUT and for the next 14 months the cast was homeless. However, DEVO and the remainder of WUT kept their search alive for a new theater while participating in national Rocky Horror Conventions. Then in April of 2002 DEVO did it. He struck the perfect deal with Laemmle Theaters. This incarnation of WUT has accomplished more creatively than anyone had ever expected. Besides a slew of preshows/special performances, WUT has made an unforgettable mark as “the Home of Innovation”. WUT is still performing once a month in the San Fernando Valley. For more information on the events of Wild and Untamed Things please visit them on the web at www.wutspace.com. DEVO retired as an active member of WUT in 2006.
Besides a very long list of guest performances with dozens of other Rocky casts, DEVO was also a dual member of WUT and Rocky's Whores, from 1999 until 2006. At this Time DEVO got the name “The Sinister of Defense” at that he had vowed to defend both Casts. From 2001 to 2006 DEVO performed as Rocky’s Whores Riff Raff.
In August of 2006 DEVO became Cast Leader of Rocky’s Whores. And in October of 2006 Rocky’s Whores renamed themselves Dark Refrain. Please see the next fuckin egotistical Bio...
